My Story

Daniel Farrar

Owner/Operator

I first started window cleaning when I was just a wee lad with a roll of paper towels and a bottle of Windex half the size of me. Nobody believes me when I tell them this, but my favourite chore as a child was cleaning the interior windows for my mom and dad. I absolutely loved it, both for the difference I could see my efforts made, and the rewarding satisfaction I gleaned knowing I’d done something well. I wanted to clean other homes too but knew I’d only be limited to interior windows that were under four feet in height and who would want just that? Even if it came with the charm and swagger that only a 6 year old with a day job could muster.

Fast forward to 2011, my first year of university, when I started a window cleaning franchise with College Pro, a company that recruits and trains university students to run their own business. While I only worked with them for a year, it kick-started my entrepreneurial spirit. I was able to live out my childhood fantasy of cleaning windows and I absolutely loved meeting all of the different people from across the city. To this day, I am still excited to see my clients for their first cleaning of the year, and not just because I know the satisfaction that descaling winter salt and grime can bring; it’s the conversations and the catch-ups that make a job well done so rewarding.

We have cleaned hundreds of happy customers’ windows and look forward to working with you.

When I finished university with the very lucrative Fine Arts Degree in Music, I needed a plan to support myself. My passion for windows saved me from the pain (pane) of new grad unemployment. I joined a young, but rapidly growing company and was quickly assigned the role of Production Manager, overseeing the hiring, training, and management of all of the window cleaners and vehicles. Within 3 years I was responsible for 18 window cleaning technicians and a fleet of 9 vehicles. However, it was stressful and the bigger the company became, the further removed I was from what I loved about the job in the first place: cleaning windows and building relationships with my customers. Moreover, as the company grew, it became increasingly difficult to deliver a consistent quality clean to every homeowner. I couldn’t expect everyone to be approachable, friendly, and a perfectionist like me. It pained me deeply when my customers were let down. Eventually, I realized that if I wanted to be able to feel good about what I do, I would have to keep things small and only bring on a few remarkable employees who share the same ideals as me.

After leaving that company and joining another, I noticed another, rather flattering, trend. No matter which company I worked for, the clients would request me. “Please send Daniel”, and “I only want Daniel”, were phrases oft repeated (and by people who were not my mom!). I realized that I was as much of a commodity as the service I was providing. In March of 2020, I gathered the courage to start my own business and have steadily grown it over the past few years. While I may not always be on every job site these days, I have a team of dedicated window cleaning professionals that I trust and champion. Thanks for reading this far. I look forward to meeting you.
